Volunteer Opportunites
The Maple Lake Library is operated entirely by volunteers.
Not a single penny of our budget goes to paying staff or board members.
We are lucky to be in a community with so many wonderful people who give their time and talent to keep this Library running!


Whether you can give at little as one hour a month, or as much as three hours a week,
there is a place for you to share your gifts with the patrons of the Maple Lake Library.

Archival Committee

These volunteers are responsible for collecting, preserving, and displaying local history. Newspapers, photos, family trees, school year books, marriage announcements, obituaries, and other documents are of interest for the archival collection. If you enjoy history we would love your help!  We need volunteers willing to donate some time to help scan documents and enter the information into the Maple Lake Library archival catalog. If you are not interested in becoming an archival volunteer, you can still help us out by putting us in contact with families who have documents of historical significance.

Communication Comm
ittee

This committee coordinates all the communication efforts of the Maple Lake Library and its other committees. Guides and resources for advertising and publicity are created by this committee. We also manage this website and moderate the social media accounts, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Foursquare. If you are marketing-minded and like technology, this is the committee for you! Meetings are quarterly. If you are not interested in being on the committee, but would still like to help out with these tasks, please let us know!

Fundraiser Committee

This committee plans the annual fundraiser: "Hollywood Nights" which takes place in October.  If you are not interested in being on the planning committee but would like to help out on the day of the fundraiser, please let us know as soon as possible. Thanks!

Operations Comm
ittee

This committee is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Library. Issues they are responsible for: checking in and out media using the library system called Follett Destiny, labeling media, work schedule, patron issues, collection maintenance, media purchasing and deletions, volunteer relations, decorations/displays, Den Outlet, Adopt-a-Media, and policies.  If you would like to join this committee and be involved with these important issues, please join us! Meetings are on the first Thursday of the month at 4:30pm in the Library.   If you are not interested in being on the committee, but would like to sign up for a shift as a library volunteer or supervise our used book sale at The Den, we would love to have you!

Programs Committee

This committee coordinates reading programs and library events throughout the year. If you would like to be part of the dreaming and scheming, please consider joining this committee. Meetings are on the first Tuesday of the month at 5:00pm in the Library.  We are responsible for these past programs:

          Family Film Night                                           National Library Week

Don’t have time to commit to our committee, but would like to help engage your community in reading?  Join us for as little as 30 minutes or up to 4 hours:
Staff the book booth at a community event
Assist Marie during Preschool Storytime
Hand out prizes and treats during Summer activities
Lead a Book Club discussion
Deliver books and DVDs to residents of Maple Manor and home-bound patrons
Put up letters on the Highway 55 signs
Type up book reviews
Put up flyers around town
Decorate/clean for an Author Visit

Revenue Committee

This committee oversees the finances, secures donations, writes for grants, and makes sure the lights stay on and the doors stay open. If you have experience with grant-writing, accounting, or creative fundraising, please consider joining this committee. If you are not interested in being on the committee, you can still help us out: Stuffing envelopes, calling donors, putting up flyers, creating newspaper ads, selling raffle tickets, and more important tasks that all help to bring in much-needed revenue.
