Past Reading Programs
These programs happen mostly in the Summer, but may reoccur at any time of the year. Please stay tuned for updates!
BOOKS WITH BOONE
and her Greyhound Boone help your child gain more confidence in reading!
They encourage readers who have completed 1st and 2nd grades to
“paws to read”. Patricipants will
read a story aloud to Boone, review the story with a game, and complete a story-related
arts/crafts, writing, or other activity.
Sara Hagen invites new readers who have just completed
Kindergarten to come to the library, enjoy a book or two and a related
craft activity. She introduces your child to books and authors
that will help strengthen the love of reading, or she may provide the
spark that will interest your reluctant reader. This is also a great way to nurture your child's love of reading!
Introduce them to the Library at a young age, and they will keep coming
back as they grow up. Recommended for children going into First Grade.
Storyteller extraordinaire, Marie Mavencamp, reads a book and conducts story-related activities
including songs, games, craft activities, and snacks. Recommended for ages 2 to 5.
Your children will have fun while they gain valuable skills needed for Kindergarten:
-- Learning to share
-- Following directions
-- Paying attention
-- Behaving in a large social group
MAPLE LAKE LIBRARY READ & REDEEM!
Summer Reading Program: R & R
This free program is open to children aged 5 and older. Participants pick up a slip each week at the library and check out a
book at an appropriate reading level. They record the book they read on
the slip and return it the next week to redeem it for that week’s
prize. All returned slips are put into the Grand Prize Jars.
At the end of the program, three names will be drawn from each age
group and the winners will receive a $10 gift card for Buffalo Books.
The more you read, the more chances you have of winning the Grand Prize!
